Mandalay University (also the University of Mandalay; formerly Mandalay Arts and Sciences University), is a public liberal arts university located in Mandalay, Myanmar. Formerly an affiliate of Rangoon University, Mandalay University is the second oldest university in the country, and the largest university in Upper Myanmar. The university offers bachelor's and master's degree programs in in common liberal arts, sciences and law disciplines.
The University of Medicine 1, Yangon formerly the Institute of Medicine 1), located in Yangon, is the oldest medical school in Myanmar. The university offers M.B.,B.S. (equivalent of the M.D.) degrees and graduate (diploma, master's and doctoral) degrees in medical science. The university is perhaps the most selective university in the country, and admits approximately 600 students annually based solely on their college matriculation exam scores.
Yangon Technological University (YTU), located in Gyogone, Yangon, is the premier engineering university of Myanmar. Established as Department of Engineering under Rangoon University in 1924, and popular known by its former name RIT (Rangoon Institute of Technology), YTU is the country's oldest and largest engineering university, and one of the most selective universities in Burma. The university offers bachelor's, master's and doctorate degree programs in engineering disciplines to nearly 8000 students.
Yangon University (also the University of Yangon; formerly Rangoon College, Rangoon University and Rangoon Arts and Sciences University), located in Kamayut, Yangon, is the oldest and most well-known university in Myanmar. The university offers mainly graduate degree (master's, post - graduate diploma & doctorate) programs in liberal arts, sciences and law. Full-time bachelor's degree have not been offered at the university's main campus since the student protests of 1996.
